In a move that shocked absolutely no one, Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour did not invite disgraced former news anchor Matt Lauer to this year’s Met Gala, but his estranged wife Annette Roque did snag an invite to the exclusive social event held each May in New York City. In the past, Wintour always personally invited Lauer, and she also included him on the VIP guest list, but that was then, and this is now.
Lauer used to be an in-demand NBC star, but the 60-year-old lost his star power after the network fired him from The Today Show last November due to allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.
Just because Lauer ruined his own reputation and career, Roque did not suffer the same fate.

“Anna personally invited Annette,” revealed an insider told Radar Online. Wintour has been actively pursuing the former model and hoping that she would agree to a photo shoot and interview for Vogue. But, Roque sent a note and “politely declined” the invite.
At the famous A-list soiree last night, celebs including Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry, and Mindy Kaling all walked the red carpet.
As for Lauer, the media world is still reeling from his surprise firing, and many of his Today Show colleagues have spoken out about the scandal. The latest to do so was Meredith Vieira, who hosted the show with Lauer from 2006 to 2011.
In a recent interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show Radio Andy, Vieira said that when the news broke about Lauer, she was in Los Angeles. And, she woke up to several messages and calls in the middle of the night from colleagues in New York who were letting her know what was happening.

Vieira says she was “just as shocked as everyone else,” and hinted to Cohen that she was unaware of Lauer’s behavior. She did avoid saying too much about Lauer and the situation in general, but she did talk about the #MeToo movement that helped take down Lauer and several other powerful men in the entertainment industry for alleged inappropriate conduct.
Vieira says that she appreciates the movement, and believes it is long overdue. She says that there has clearly been a problem and too many people were ignored and hurt and thinks that they deserve to have their truth told. Ultimately, Vieira hopes that the result of the movement is that we create a workplace where women and men feel safe.
Matt Lauer has not commented on the rumors that Annette Roque is preparing to start the divorce proceedings.
