On Tuesday, police arrested former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel for 2nd-degree assault and battery, and his alleged victim — Nanny Dawn — is speaking out about the case. In an interview with Live 5 News, she revealed that she is not satisfied with the charges against Ravenel and believes that prosecutors should have gone further.
“I feel relief, but I’m not 100-percent satisfied because he was charged with assault and battery and the crime extended beyond that. It was forcible rape,” she said after Ravenel’s bond hearing.
Just hours after he turned himself in to police, the court granted him a $20,000 personal recognizance bond, but he had to turn in his passport, and was also ordered to not leave South Carolina and avoid contact with the alleged victim.

Nanny Dawn — who has asked for her last name to not be revealed — worked for Ravenel for years and took care of the two children he shares with Kathryn Dennis. She says that she would be happy if Ravenel took responsibility for his crimes, but she believes he doesn’t see his actions against her as criminal behavior.
Dawn says that there needs to be accountability in this situation, and since there are children involved, her main concern is the health and safety of others.
According to People Magazine, the police affidavit following Ravenel’s arrest claims that the alleged incident took place in January 2015. It also goes into graphic detail of the alleged assault and states that Ravenel undressed and made sexual advances on the victim. He also proceeded to assault the victim before she escaped.
Once Dawn was able to get away from Ravenel, she called her ex-husband and sister to let them know what happened. Then, she left the scene and called other family members before taking pictures of the injuries on her neck and chest.
Detectives corroborated the date of the incident via employment records and witness interviews. They also took possession of the victim’s photographs.

Police started investigating Nanny Dawn’s claims back in May, and she told People at that time that the incident occurred while Ravenel and Dennis’ daughter Kensie was asleep nearby. She said that he took her into the master bedroom, dropped his pants, blocked the door, and started ripping her clothes off.
Dawn believes that Ravenel should spend time in jail for his crimes, but she says the reality is that he will probably go unpunished. She thinks the only justice she will get is to share her story, so she can educate others and support fellow assault survivors.
Thomas Ravenel has denied Dawn’s allegations through his lawyers.
New episodes of Southern Charm will return to Bravo in 2019.
