After his arrest for 2nd-degree assault and battery earlier this week, Bravo officially announced that Thomas Ravenel would not be returning to Southern Charm for Season 6. And, according to a new report, the rest of the cast is relieved that they don’t have to deal with Ravenel anymore.
“Thomas was a friend at first, but that changed over the years as layers and layers of his lies and manipulation were exposed. What he did to Kathryn [Dennis] was horrible, but the allegations from his nanny became the last straw,” says an insider.
Leaving Charleston and at the airport I see Patricia Altschul. She informs me of Thomas Ravenel arrest. Hearing the news from her was better then a picture #southerncharm @Bravotv pic.twitter.com/EZYXuJsSeM

The source went on to say that Nanny Dawn’s allegation disgusted the female cast members on the show, and they have been keeping their distance because he is toxic. Now, they are happy to be free of that, and the cast is looking forward to filming Season 7.
Ravenel turned himself into Charleston, South Carolina, police last Tuesday after a court issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of 2nd-degree assault and battery in relation to a sexual assault charge from his former nanny.
According to the arrest affidavit, Ravenel allegedly attacked Dawn Ledwell at his home on January 25, 2015. Ledwell had been watching Ravenel’s two children — who he shares with Dennis — while he was out to dinner. And, when he came home, he took her into the master bedroom and forcibly removed her clothes. Ravenel then allegedly forced Ledwell’s hand onto his penis and grabbed at her vagina.
The Daily Mail reports that police booked Ravenel on Tuesday morning on the misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum sentence of three years behind bars and a maximum fine of $2,500. Later that day, police released him from Al Cannon Detention Center after the court granted him a $20,000 personal recognizance bond. That means that he didn’t have to put up any cash, but he had to promise to attend all future court appearances.
Even though Ledwell claimed back in May that Ravenel forcibly raped her, police did not describe that in their report. Ravenel has denied Ledwell’s allegations through his attorney.

This isn’t the first time that Ravenel has been in trouble with the law. Back in 2007, one year into his term as South Carolina state treasurer, police arrested him for conspiring to buy and distribute less than 100 grams of cocaine, and he ended up spending ten months in a federal prison.
As for his latest arrest, Ravenel’s alleged victim doesn’t think he will see the proper punishment. She says that she believes Thomas Ravenel should go to jail for his crimes, but the reality is that will he will probably go unpunished. Ledwell added that the only justice she will receive is to share her story, so she can educate people and support other survivors.
New episodes of Southern Charm will return to Bravo next year.
