It looks like rapper/actor/game show host Snoop Dogg is about to get beamed up. Snoop has joined a long-gestating science-fiction parody film called Unbelievable!!!!! as a cast member and an executive producer.

Snoop will co-star alongside Star Trek legend (and Unbelievable!!!!! co-producer) Nichelle Nichols as "Major LeGrande Bushe."

Unbelievable!!!!! follows four astronauts (one of whom is actually a marionette puppet that looks like Captain Kirk from Star Trek ) on a mission to Mars.

The cast of the film includes an astonishing 40 actors and guest stars from various Star Trek television series and movies.

Star Trek: Voyager 's Garrett Wang and Tim Russ play two of the human astronauts alongside Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 's Chase Masterson.

They're joined by actors like Armin Shimerman, Vaughn Armstrong, Gary Graham, Anthony Montgomery, Linda Park, Robert Picardo, Marina Sirtis, Nana Visitor, Walter Koenig, and Michael Dorn.

The independent film from husband and wife filmmakers Steven L. Fawcette and Angelique Fawcette has been in the works since 2012.

A rough cut of Unbelievable!!!!! was screened for the cast, crew, and a few select fans for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek in 2016.

The Chiodo Brothers, who created the marionettes for the popular film Team America: World Police , also created the "Captain Kirk Stillwood" puppet.

The filmmakers even managed to enlist the help of composer Gerald Fried -- the last living composer from the original Star Trek series -- to score the movie.

Actors Robert Davi, Sam Asghari, and Casper Smart have also joined the cast, which includes non-Trek luminaries such as Gilbert Gottfried and Michael Madsen.

It would appear that the addition of Snoop Dogg as a cast member and producer was the last step on the road to completion for Unbelievable!!!!! No specific release date has been announced, but the filmmakers say the film will be out in early 2018.
