Throwback footage of Sia with her face and neck covered in black paint has resurfaced and the singer is being accused of racism. Is what she did considered blackface?
The performance during which she chose to use that makeup is from 2011 and she is now being attacked by fans of Taylor Swift on social media.
This comes after Taylor called out Scooter Braun for buying rights to all of her music and Sia chose to stand by him.
Seeing that Sia defended the famed star manager instead of being by Taylor’s side in this, fans of Taylor proceeded to uncover this older video and accuse her of being racist.
For the swift fans trying to make out that I would ever do blackface please see this video. I was painting myself into the backdrop, it was a pre cursor to the wig… https://t.co/6St0hWl1k1

Sia responded to the backlash, writing: ‘For the swift fans trying to make out that I would ever do blackface please see this video. I was painting myself into the backdrop, it was a precursor to the wig…’
As you may know, ever since Taylor started this online war with Scooter Brun, fellow celebs have either showed her support or, on the contrary, defended Scooter.
It looks like Sia can join the latter list that also includes Justin Bieber.
‘You’re a good kind man @scooterbraun. I hope this passes quickly. I love you keep going,’ Sia tweeted yesterday.
Obviously, Swift’s fans were not happy to hear this from Sia.
Demi Lovato is a third star who spoke in his defense while others such as Halsey, Cara Delevingne and Todrick Hall made their allegiance towards Taylor known.
Scooter Braun is yet to address the scandal but one insider previously told ET that he wants to discuss the situation with Taylor in private.
However, it doesn’t look like she wants to have anything to do with him at this point.
