According to a report from Page Six, Shep Rose from Southern Charm is finally setting the record straight on his recent social media post in which he appeared to mock a woman collecting cans on the street.
The 39-year-old star admitted on Wednesday that it “wasn’t cool or funny” this past weekend when he posted a video of himself mocking a woman holding several trash bags filled with cans. The woman was collecting them on an East Village street.
His apology comes a few days after he defended himself vehemently online, despite on onslaught of criticism from other social media users. The star wrote, “it was a stupid joke and a bad idea all around.” The reality star explained himself, adding that he had actually spoken to her for a while before taking a video.
I know some people were upset about the video from Sunday night. It was a stupid joke and bad idea all around. Also a bit out of context. I spent a few minutes with her talking and telling jokes. She laughed a little. But Yeah, wasn’t cool or funny. Mea culpa.

It was on Sunday night when Rose uploaded the video of himself poking fun at a woman sitting next to several big bags filled with aluminum cans. It appeared as though the woman didn’t like being filmed because she used her hands to cover her face.
Initially, Shep wasn’t willing to apologize for his actions nor admit his supposed insensitivity, however, finally giving in to social pressure, the reality star said sorry. One Twitter user tweeted at Bravo and asked Andy Cohen to remove him from the reality series.
Bravo TV and Andy refused to make a comment. This won’t be the first time that a reality star has had to apologize following controversial remarks.
Previously, one of Rose’s Southern Charm co-stars accused him of giving Danni Baird chlamydia, however, Baird defended him and stated that it wasn’t cool to make such an unsubstantiated accusation.
In an August 1st report published by Page Six, Madison LeCroy, Austin Kroll’s quasi-girlfriend, accused Shep of giving Danni Baird chlamydia. Danni Baird defended him, however, stating, “that’s a blatant lie.” “It’s just not cool,” the reality star added. Baird asked her why she would make such a statement, especially considering it makes her look bad as well.
