Shaquille O’Neal opened up about the pay gap between sexes in the sports industry, saying that it’s definitely unfair female soccer players are paid less than their male counterparts. Shaq was at BEER PARK, a new bar and grill at Paris Las Vegas and while there, he chatted with HollywoodLife.
The basketball star used this opportunity to speak out against some of the flaws in the sports world, including the pay gap between male and female athletes
Shaquille made it very clear that he is against that paycheck discrimination in sports news, especially when it comes to the American women’s soccer team.
As far as he is concerned, this situation needs to stop, and here’s why!
‘I think it is very unfair, I think women are as great as men and I think that they should be paid the same or sometimes even more, especially the US soccer team because they have been dominant for so long and someone needs to level the playing field,’ he shared with the news outlet.
This past week, the women’s soccer team totally dominated, winning the Women’s World Cup title!
And it was not even their first time! Taking the cup home for a fourth time makes them the biggest women’s soccer team in the world!
While disappointed with the pay gap, Shaq also has a lot to be happy about lately, especial the fact that he supposedly managed to quadruple his net worth after learning from Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
As for how he did it, the man explained that ‘The strategy is to invest in companies that are going to change people’s lives.’
