Though her hips have never lied, even superstar bodies need some help to get into tip-top shape for the type of rigorous performing required for a massive world tour. This was certainly the case with Spanish music sensation Shakira. She’s always had a toned, tight body but even she had to switch up her workouts to get ready for her tour.
She enlisted the help of Anna Kaiser to get into the best shape of her life.
The 41-year-old went through various interval training routines five days a week in order to get stage ready.
These specific workouts started four months prior to the kick off of her tour.
They were targeted to building up her endurance so that she could sustain performing for such a long period of time without sounding out of breath or losing her stamina.
There was also a focus on her strength as she plays many instruments during the course of the 2-hour show.
Shakira is a mother of 2 young boys, Milan, 5 and Sasha, 3, so she knows what it’s like to run around after little ones.
However, using her vocal ability and nailing specific dance moves aren’t necessarily the same.
She would alternate between 30-minute strength intervals and 30-minute dance-based workouts.
Many of her workouts were low impact to protect her joints and tendons while honing in on her natural flexibility.
Twice a week, she would do a 45- minute swim workout during the latter part of her days. This was a way to challenge her body but still provide balance and restoration as well.
Her diet was also very clean and she was eating multiple times a day which helped to rev up her metabolism.
The tour kicks off tomorrow night, July 6th, in Barcelona, Spain.
A notable first stop as her husband, Gerard Pique, plays centre-back on Spain’s national soccer (football) team.
