Selena Gomez is taking yet another break from social media, explaining fan comments as one of the primary reasons for her decision. The 26-year-old posted a photograph of herself with the caption, “Mood lol (I was looking at myself in the mirror – like an idiot!).”
Just a few moments later, Selena wrote on the same post, “update: taking a social media break. Again.” Gomez claimed she was grateful for the way in which social media has given people across the world a voice, but Selena admitted she needs to take a break for the sake of learning to be present to the moment.
At the end of her post, she urged her fans to remember that “negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings.” As followers of the singer know, she is one of the biggest stars on Instagram.

Mood lol (I was looking at myself in the mirror -like an idiot!) Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.
At the end of 2016, Instagram released their year-end list and Selena was at the very top, increasing by 50 million followers to 105 million followers by the end of 2016.
In the same year, Gomez had 8 of the 10 most liked posts, and the most liked photo of the year was a picture of her drinking a Coca-Cola. Moreover, she signed a deal with Coach as well.
As for how she manages to earn such endorsements, when a person has that many followers on social media, companies practically beg for them to endorse products.
Gomez, in the past, has been associated with Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, Verizon, Pantene, and many others. Other stars to secure high-end deals with companies include Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, The Weeknd, Future, and more.
Additionally, over the last 25 years, the fashion world has become intertwined with the music world, making popular artists of the day extremely valuable as brand ambassadors.
