Selena Gomez Filmed Woody Allen Movie ‘A Rainy Day In New York’ And Twitter Is Furious — Dylan Farrow Accused Him Of Sexual Abuse

Selena Gomez finished filming the Woody Allen movie A Rainy Day in New York, and Twitter is furious. Woody Allen, who celebrates his 82nd birthday on December 1, 2017, was accused of sexually abusing his seven-year-old adopted daughter Dylan Farrow on August 4, 1992, when he was left alone with her. A bitter, custody battle ensued and there were allegations on both sides that Mia Farrow, Allen’s wife at the time, had poisoned Dylan Farrow against Woody and coached her to make the allegations.
Farrow’s team said that Woody Allen was a pedophile who should lose all rights to his children. Ronan Farrow, the investigative journalist behind the explosive New York Times exposé on Harvey Weinstein is Dylan Farrow’s brother.
For many years, speculation has hovered over Allen that the allegations are true and that he has continued to have a successful career making award-winning movies and was never brought to justice.
Dylan Farrow legally changed her name, but on February 1, 2014, she wrote an open letter to Woody Allen and those who have continued to work with him throughout the years. She emphatically reiterated her position that Woody Allen sexually abused her as a child.
In 1997, Woody Allen married Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter Soon-Yi Preven, who was believed to be nine-years-old, when Woody Allen and Mia Farrow began their romantic relationship.
Woody Allen has always denied allegations that he sexually abused Dylan Farrow. He has spoken about his relationship with Soon-Yi in several interviews. You may find more information on those below.
Important to revisit Dylan Farrow’s account of sexual abuse by her father Woody Allen. I believe you Dylan.https://t.co/8XFIq3v3ZG

In Dylan Farrow’s open letter she called out famous celebrities, actors, and actresses who had worked with Allen such as now-disgraced comedian Louis CK, Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Diane Keaton, Scarlett Johansson, and Emma Stone.
Farrow’s comment to Diane Keaton is especially painful to read. Speaking of how she felt ignored while she struggled to put her life together after surviving sexual abuse, she asked Diane Keaton if she had forgotten about her.
“You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?”
The open letter was written in 2014, and at that time Selena hadn’t worked with Allen. Allen made the film Magic in the Moonlight with Emma Stone, Colin Firth, and Marcia Gay Harden in 2014.
In 2015, Allen made Irrational Man with Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Parker Posey, and Meredith Hagner.
In 2016, Woody Allen’s made the film Café Society with Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell, Anna Camp, Sheryl Lee, Parker Posey, and Jesse Eisenberg.
Woody Allen’s movie for 2017 is Wonder Wheel starring Kate Winslet, Justin Timberlake, Juno Temple, David Krumholtz, Debi Mazar, and Jim Belushi.
Selena Gomez stars in Woody Allen’s 2018 movie, A Rainy Day in New York. The movie also stars Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), Jude Law, Kelly Rohrbach, Elle Fanning, Rebecca Hall, Suki Waterhouse, and Liev Schreiber.
To be fair, there are many A-list celebrities who have worked with Woody Allen since Dylan Farrow’s open letter. The problem Twitter is having with Selena Gomez; however, is that she is the executive producer of the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.
Thirteen Reasons Why is a controversial teen series that depicts the suicide of Hannah Baker, a teen girl who becomes despondent and emotionally traumatized after being sexually abused, bullied, and having no support system.
The sexual abuse was swept under the rug and ignored. Becuase of that, Baker committed suicide.
Many people on Twitter are taking issue that Selena Gomez would executively produce a series about a young girl who committed suicide because her account of sexual abuse and rape was ignored and then filmed a movie with Woody Allen, whose step-daughter could be the real-life counterpart to Hannah Baker.
Selena has just been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year and she granted them an interview. When asked why she chose to work with Allen (People magazine says she auditioned for him five times), she gave the following response.
“To be honest, I’m not sure how to answer — not because I’m trying to back away from it. The Harvey Weinstein allegations actually happened right after I had started on the movie. They popped up in the midst of it. And that’s something, yes, I had to face and discuss. I stepped back and thought, ‘Wow, the universe works in interesting ways.”
The answer didn’t go over well with her fans.
Here are some tweets that people have shared regarding Selena Gomez’s decision to work with Woody Allen.

there's nothing to talk about. Woody Allen is an abuser and Selena Gomez has no business working with him when she continues to claim to be an advocate for victims of abuse. https://t.co/towYvbkcaI

Woman of the year @selenagomez is working with sexual predator Woody Allen. When asked about what she thought about it she was just like the universe works in interesting ways… What a joke.

I can’t believe Billboard announced Selena Gomez as woman of the year and all she’s done work-wise is release a few songs and justify working with Woody Allen

The only way for @selenagomez to redeem herself is to drop out of the Woody Allen film.

"Selena Gomez has admitted she's not sure how to address allegations against Woody Allen while working on a film with him"
try not working with him.

One Twitter user had some advice for Selena and indicated that if she didn’t know how to address questions about working with him, she shouldn’t be working with him.
What do you think? Should Selena Gomez drop out of the movie and ask Woody Allen to find a new actress and reshoot her scenes?
