Selena Gomez Admits This Was Her First Time Voting!
Selena Gomes is one of the many celebrities using their platforms to get young people to vote in this upcoming presidential election and it looks like she’s doing everything she can to push them in the right direction and get them using their own voices! That being said, the singer joined director Damien Chazelle for a #VotingPowerHour as part of the All In Campus Democracy Challenge.
During this hour long challenge, Selena and thousands of people tuning in used Outvote to text all their friends and family members about using their voting right!
This isn't the first time that Selena Gomez is using her influence to encourage people to vote.
As you may know, she also chatted about politics and voting with Timothée Chalamet on Instagram Live while the actor was in line, waiting to cast his ballot.
She is obviously very committed to this cause and while talking to Chazelle, Selena admitted that she was nervous to text people but stressed that those real life connections are really important.
‘My main focus has been this right now. You can tell from my social media and everything, obviously, I am super invested in this right now. It's been good. I feel hopeful,’ Selena stated.
The star met a couple of so-called Super Texters as part of the whole effort and they were obviously very excited to chat with Selena.
During one of those conversations, Selena revealed that when she got her ballot in the mail a few weeks ago, she was that excited about it because it was her first time voting!
‘Honestly, I'm not ashamed to say this, but... I'm kind of... This was my first time. This is so true and I am now admitting it to people: my vote counts. When I got my ballot I got really excited, like feeling part of it. We want people to use their voice,’ Selena shared.
