Savannah Guthrie got into trouble when she accidentally cursed on live television. On Wednesday’s broadcast of The Today Show on NBC, Guthrie was caught saying the word “s*it” on the air because of a misfunction whereby Guthrie could be seen and heard rehearsing to be broadcast to the nation.
Despite the fact it wasn’t a big deal, some people on social media took it upon themselves to give the co-host a hard time. One person wrote, “how dare you swear like that on television Guthrie. Don’t you have any manners? 😉 ;)”
Savannah jokingly played it off with a tweet which said, “check, check – is this thing on? Yeah, I guess it is.” The Today Show co-host then said sorry to her fans for letting the curse word slip and stated it’s probably a good thing she’s not in front of a microphone all of the time.
Check, check – is this thing on?
Yeah I guess it is.
So sorry guys. Thanks for being kind and understanding. And guess it’s good thing I don’t wear a mic all day. #ohdarn

Despite her mistake, many of her fans understood the situation, after all, we’re all human and make mistakes sometimes. One Twitter user explained, “it was kind of cute because it showed your human, non-scripted-side. It was like we got a brief glimpse into how you act.”
Another person added, “it wasn’t a big deal, we’re all human here. No apologies needed on your part Guthrie.” And we could all see it coming: a fan looped Matt Lauer into the incident. The social media commenter remarked, “after the Lauer controversy, Guthrie saying “sh*t” on the air is hardly a big deal.”
“It’s not like she sexually harassed or assaulted anyone on television. It could’ve been worse, that much is for sure!”
As it was previously reported, Matt lost his job due to sexual misconduct allegations. His firing was swift, and the former Today Show host didn’t even receive his contractually obligated bonus which his lawyers wanted to get for him.
