'Saturday Night Live' Returns Sept. 30 With Ryan Gosling And JAY-Z — Continues Live Coast To Coast Broadcasts
Fresh off its Emmy wins , NBC announced that Saturday Night Live (SNL) will return to airwaves on September 30, 2017, for its 43rd season. Ryan Gosling will host and JAY-Z will be the musical artist. Additionally, SNL will continue with their live coast-to-coast broadcasts, meaning that when the U.S. watches the show it will be filmed live before all audiences and not tape-delayed for west coast viewers.
Saturday Night Live won four Emmys for the 2017 award season including one for Alec Baldwin, Kate McKinnon, and director Don Roy King. SNL also took home the Emmy award for outstanding sketch program.
While Saturday Night Live has a long history of using sketch-comedy to address hot-button political issues, SNL drew plenty of attention for their handling of the 2016 presidential election. Alec Baldwin won the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for his spot-on portrayal of President Donald Trump.
When season 42 ended, demand for more sketches with Alec Baldwin as Trump, Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, and Aidy Bryant as Sarah Huckabee Sanders were in high demand. Now fans will have their fill of political satire when Saturday Night Live returns.
Demand for Saturday Night Live following the Season 42 finale was so great, NBC launched Weekend Update: Summer Edition.
This is not the first time that Ryan Gosling will host Saturday Night Live and fans are thrilled to have him back. One of SNL's most popular sketches is "Close Encounters" where Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Ryan Gosling played survivors of alien abductions. It was a highlight or turning point for McKinnon on the show as the sketch went viral and showed off McKinnon's talents to those who were unfamiliar with the comedic actress.

Ryan Gosling can soon be seen in the upcoming films Blade Runner 2049 and First Man .
Are you looking forward to Saturday Night Live's return? Several SNL cast members left the show at the end of Season 42 including Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan, and Sasheer Zamata.
