Sam Smith decided to open up about his body image and his weight loss. The singer was interviewed by his close celebrity pal Sarah Jessica Parker and he got candid about all of it!
‘It is completely different. I think that has come with me losing weight. When I was shooting my very first music videos, I just was not happy with the way I looked, so I was trying to control the way the camera moved. I got quite obsessive. I was always looking in the mirror, pinching my waist, weighing myself every single day,’ the 25-year-old confessed about his old behavior.
That being said, it looks like nowadays, Smith is a lot more accepting of himself, even though, as he admitted, it is still pretty easy to sometimes get caught up in wanting to attain unrealistic body standards!
‘I have gotten to a place where I love my stretch marks, and I enjoy my body. My job’s very self-indulgent: I have to listen to my own voice daily, I decide what tour posters or album covers look like, I look at my face while in the makeup chair. I do get pretty of sick of myself, so I just trust my team. But my body image’s always going to be an issue,’ the star said.
Sam went on to claim that he is consciously taking the best decisions for himself every day, like what films to watch and choosing to ignore specific ads that might dictate what his stomach should look like.
It is definitely something the celeb is still struggling with a lot on a daily basis, and he thinks ‘men should talk about it more.’
Are you able to relate to his struggle? Should all men be more open about their own body image issues as well?
