If it were up to Ryan Reynolds, the next Deadpool film would feature an epic crossover with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. While promoting Deadpool 2, Reynolds revealed that he would love nothing more than to have Wolverine star alongside the “Merc with a Mouth.” What are the chances that Wolverine is resurrected for one last hurrah?
Reynolds and Jackman have appeared alongside each other as Wolverine and Wade Wilson. In the movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds had a short cameo, though Deadpool’s lips were sewed together so we didn’t get to see him in all of his potty-mouthed glory.
Jackman’s Wolverine died in Logan, so bringing him back for another film would be a little tricky, but Reynold’s is not concerned about the logistics.
“There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that,” Reynolds explained in a recent interview.
With Logan taking place in the future, it would not be that hard for producers to write him in to another movie. Reynolds, however, does not think figuring out how to bring Wolverine back is the hard part. According to Ladbible, the actor believes the biggest hurdle is convincing Jackman that he should reprise the iconic role for one more romp.
In fact, Reynolds explained that Jackman is pretty determined to stay out of the super hero game at the moment, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t trying his best to convince him.
Reynolds actually has a good relationship with Jackman, whom he called his favorite actor in the Marvel world. Whenever he sees the Logan star, Reynolds tries hard to get him to play Wolverine one last time, but so far, his efforts have been fruitless. That doesn’t mean Jackman won’t eventually cave, but it isn’t looking good.

That said, Reynold’s Deadpool earned over $350 million in theaters and Deadpool 2 is expected to be just as successful as its predecessor. Jackman’s last three movies as Wolverine, meanwhile, raked in a whopping $1 billion in ticket sales.
With so much money on the table, there’s a good chance that Marvel will take a serious look at bringing Jackman back for what would be the crossover for the ages.
In the meantime, fans can watch Ryan Reynolds return to action when Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18.
