The reality TV couple is no longer going to be part of Teen Mom. Ryan and Mackenzie Edwards talked to E! News, revealing that next season they will no longer return to the show that made them famous.
‘We’re not returning to Teen Mom this season. The network told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict. But they wanted to enter a contract with our yet unborn baby and have it film with Ryan’s parents so it’d look like someone else is raising it,’ Mackenzie explained to the outlet.
As fans of the MTV series know all too well, Ryan has been through a lot of scandals during his time on Teen Mom, and it seems like finally, he is being let go.
The man who also has a kid with Teen Mom Maci Bookout claimed that the production team believes her as far as his addiction issues are concerned.
Apparently she gave them an ultimatum – either he quits the show and goes to rehab, or she no longer films.
However, Edwards insisted that he is actually sober.
‘I know they did want five girls to begin with after Farrah [Abraham] left to sort of resemble Teen Mom 2. But they did not want to see another recovering addict storyline. So they are writing us out of the show right now and making it seem like we dipped out on our baby, on Bentley, and on everyone,’ Mackenzie added.
She also went on to say that the show will no longer be paying for her and her unborn baby’s healthcare now that she won’t be on the show, noting that Maci really doesn’t know what is going on in their lives as she and Ryan agreed to not talk to one another.
When asked if they’d return another season if asked, Mackenzie made it very clear that the answer is ‘no.’
