Although the show was canceled by ABC following its star’s racist tweet scandal, it turns out that Roseanne might not be over for good! Instead, it looks like it might just get revamped.
According to an insider, the network is doing its best to save many people’s careers by finding a way to keep airing a different version of the sitcom, without Roseanne Barr’s character of course!
That being said, one idea is to rebrand it and have another character as the center.
As you probably know by now, Roseanne was canceled following the actress’ racist tweet about Barack Obama’s ex adviser at the White House, Valerie Jarrett.
Although the comedy had already been renewed for a new season, the huge outrage the social media post created forced the network to take the necessary measures.
This week, one source told ET that ‘There are very tentative conversations, in very early stages about the possibility of a spinoff, but it is much too early.’
As for Roseanne’s return, the same insider made it very clear that there is ‘Not a chance. See her tweets from today.’
They were referring to the fact that following the scandal, the woman has not stopped tweeting about the unfairness of the situation and more controversial things.
Yesterday, she also revealed that she begged ABC to keep Roseanne on air but then deleted the post.
‘I begged Ben Sherwood at ABC to let me apologize and make amends. I begged them to not cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do anything and asked for help in making things right. I had worked doing publicity for them for free for weeks, traveling, thru bronchitis. I begged for people’s jobs.’
