Are things getting better between the two women? Rose McGowan took to social media this morning to post a message for Asia Argento.
It looks like the activist wanted to clear some things up about statements she made in the past about Asia.
And that is not all as she also made sure to apologize to her.
In the lengthy statement, she posted on Twitter, Rose started by explaining that: ‘On 27 August I released a statement about Asia Argento, which I realized contained a number of facts which were not correct. The most serious out of these was that I said the unsolicited nude text messages Asia received from Jimmy Bennett had been sent since Jimmy was 12 years old.’
She went on to clarify that ‘In fact, I’d misunderstood the texts Asia exchanged with my partner Rain Dove, which made it clear that Jimmy had sent Asia inappropriate text messages only after they had met up again when he was 17 (still legally a minor in California, but notably different from a 12-year-old).’
This is something Rose has mentioned before, but now it’s more official.
‘In my statement, I challenged why Asia hadn’t acted as I think any responsible adult would if they received sexually explicit messages from a 12-year-old, which of course don’t apply in the same way as when the situation involves a 17-year-old, who had admitted harboring misguided fantasies about their mentor since they were 12,’ she added.
It sounds like she’s changed her mind about the gravity of Asia’s alleged relationship with the teen, saying that it’s less bad because he was almost legal.
Finally, the actress made sure to apologize: ‘I deeply regret not correcting my mistake sooner and apologize to Asia for not doing so.’
