Robin Wright Will Headline ‘House Of Cards’ Sixth And Final Season After Kevin Spacey Was Fired

Robin Wright will headline the sixth and final season of House of Cards after actor Kevin Spacey was fired due to an onslaught of sexual harassment and abuse allegations. Spacey played the lead role of Francis “Frank” Underwood and had garnered critical praise and numerous awards and nominations for the role. He also served as executive producer between 2013 and 2017. It’s unclear how the show will handle Spacey’s departure, but Robin Wright, who plays Frank’s wife Claire Underwood will assume the lead role. Many fans of the show have expressed disappointment that the series will end and want to see a spinoff with Wright in the lead.
Entertainment Weekly announced that production for the final season would begin in early 2018 and would consist of eight episodes only.
Though many were excited Wright would steer the helm, additional disappointment has been expressed that eight episodes are not enough for the final season.
The headline shared on social media “Robin Wright’s House of Cards…” sparked a flurry of praise with many stating they liked reading that phrase and what it meant for the series.

Even her appearance in Wonder Woman caused fans to demand an origin story for her character Antiope.
While we're making Robin Wright the lead in things, can we also have a spin off film for Antiope from Wonder Woman?

There is no question that Robin Wright has enough talent and fan support to pull off her own series whether it is on Netflix or another network.
Sorry, but is ANYONE more badass than Robin Wright in Wonder Woman. pic.twitter.com/kNXW3uZAVO

The conversation doesn’t seem to include anyone expressing sadness or regret over Kevin Spacey’s firing. He is steal dealing with the fallout of multiple sexual allegations since actor and singer Anthony Rapp came forward to allege the Oscar-winner sexually harassed him when he was 14-years-old.
Instead, fans of the show are rooting for him to be murdered, possibly by Claire.
Can we get an epic death scene for Frank, though? I've been rooting for that character's death since, like, episode two. https://t.co/DstZifJkNJ

Assuming she's going to kill him, like Francis Urquhart's wife did to him in the British original. Shame it'll presumably be off screen https://t.co/mhElnwXRdU

A season of #HouseofCards starring Robin Wright and only Robin Wright is all I’ve ever wanted.
Finally, something good.
