Even if Rihanna has not released an album in 2017, she has engaged herself in collaborating with other artists. N.E.R.D. is one of them. On November 1, Pharell Williams’ band and Rihanna revealed a song called ‘Lemon’ along with the music video for it.
If you thought that RiRi would showcase her beautiful voice as usual, then you’re totally wrong.
Rihanna shows off her fantastic rap skills this time. After Pharrell finishes his high-pitched verse, Rihanna doesn’t wait too long to start spitting her lines.
‘I get it how I live it/ I live it how I get/ Count the mothaf***in’ digits/ I pull up with a lemon,’ she rhymes.
The music video was launched shortly after the song’s premiere on Beats 1, and it opens with the sentence, ‘No one ever really dies.’
The scene then switches showing Rihanna sitting on a bed and shaving Pharrell’s back dancer Mette Towley’s head.
The dancer will eventually be the focus of the clip as she dances at a flea market.
This is not the first time when Rihanna showcases her rap skills.
It really was her 14th time. She first did that back in 2007 when she released her third studio album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad.’
She got help from famous rappers such as Timbaland and Jay-Z, Rihanna managed to spit lines about gold-digging in the track ‘Lemme Get That’.
‘I bought me a Benz; you buy me the yacht/ A girl need a lot, the girl needs some stocks/ Bonds is what I got, bonds is what I got,’ she raps.
Rihanna later continued to improve her skill, releasing a lot of rapping tracks. Among them are ‘Raining Men,’ ‘Birthday Cake (Remix)’ featuring Chris Brown, ‘Pour It Up, ‘ and ‘B***h Better Have My Money.’ RiRi is doing fine these days and she was recently featured on the cover of Vogue Arabia.
