Do not ever mess with Rihanna because she will speak her mind and put you in your place.
The singer issued a statement where she obliterated Snapchat after the company made the horrible decision to release an insensitive version of their “Would You Rather” game.
Users of the app were asked to pick between “slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown.”
Many saw that the networking channel was mocking the 2009 drama that unfolded between the former couple. Brown was trialed for violently assaulting Rihanna the night before the Grammys.
Rihanna had this to say: “Snapchat, you already know you ain’t my favorite app on there but I’m just trying to figure out what was the point was with this mess? I would love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spend money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to domestic violence victims, and you made a joke out of it. This isn’t about my personal feelings because I don’t have much of them. But all the women, children and men that have been the victim of domestic violence in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet. You let us down shame on you so the app-ology.”
One fan said to leave Rihanna alone because she has moved on and added: “I wish people would leave u and RiRi alone both all of yall have moved on from this mess it’s so ignorant for them to do that wish the best for you and Chris. I feel bad for famous people like they can’t move on even if they want to. This happened so many years ago it shouldn’t be brought up, and if someone who was in that DV situation says it was insensitive and disrespectful who are you to tell them they’re sensitive?”
Another commenter claimed that the app is fun and will not stop using it. The person wrote: “Well I just started using it, and I like it… so I’m not deleting the app.. but u have my support in other ways Just want to know who thought it would be a good idea?”
A third person decided to blame both Brown and Rihanna by writing: “Never was a fan of SnapChat. Only use it for filters and geotags and ran back to FB &IG with the pics they knew better.
Nobody said it was an excuse not what he did was right. But that’s the pot calling the kettle black. Nobody should be putting their filthy hands on anybody in the first place. Maybe if she didn’t start hitting him, she wouldn’t have been beating up.”
Snapchat has apologized for the app.
