Real Housewives of New York City star Dorinda Medley is getting into shape. But, while recently at Moxy Times Square to host a Bravo version of the game “Guess Who?” she admitted that the decision was easy, but getting into the routine wasn’t.
“About four months ago, I just woke up, and I thought, ‘That’s it.’ You hit a certain age and your body changes, and you can’t do anything about it, and the only thing you can really do is exercise,” said Medley.
She went on to reveal that she made an investment with a trainer by putting the money down up front and made it a huge part of her life. Now, Medley is working out five days a week at the Upper East Side Equinox gym, and she is down ten pounds and has lost twelve inches.
However, the 53-year-old said that the first four or five times she went to the gym, she could only do 15 minutes. But now, she has worked her way up to one-hour sessions, and she even does a 15-minute warm-up on her own before working with her trainer.
Medley says that there is a big fear factor when starting exercise, and it is easy to be embarrassed in the gym when everybody else seems to be young, sexy, and fit. She explains that it is easy to tell yourself that you can’t do it, but she allowed herself to ease into it in a non-fearful way.
But even though Medley is enjoying her new fitness-filled life, she won’t be running marathons with former RHONY star Carole Radziwill anytime soon. She says that she is not a good runner and running “isn’t her thing.”
She has, however, been sharing pictures of her progress on Instagram, and she recently posted a Marilyn Monroe-inspired topless pic that she says she is getting “a lot of s**t for.” But, Medley says that it is probably one of the last times she will be able to do that.
There is a cast vacancy on RHONY now that Radziwill has left the show, and Medley thinks that Lady Gaga’s mom Cynthia Germanotta would be a perfect choice for next season. Reality Tea is reporting that Dorinda Medley has been in touch with Germanotta, and she is trying to get her to join RHONY.
However, it isn’t clear if she has made any progress, or if executive producer Andy Cohen is on board with the idea.
New episodes of the Real Housewives of New York City will return to Bravo next spring.
