'RHONY' Bethenny Frankel's Stalking Trial Postponed As She Deals With Cancer Surgery
Bethenny Frankel’s case against her ex-husband Jason Hoppy is going to drag out a bit longer since the trial date was postponed this week in Manhattan Criminal Court. Originally scheduled for September 27th, the trial date was moved to October 23rd after the Assistant District Attorney announced he wasn’t ready.
Hoppy was arrested in January after allegedly stalking the Real Housewives of New York star, and she later filed a restraining order against him. Frankel claims Hoppy came at her and yelled that he would “destroy her” and harassed her via email and facetime.
The pharmaceutical executive has denied all the charges and has vowed to fight in court. The DA offered him a deal in March, and it would have resulted in most of the charges against him being dropped.
All he had to do was plead guilty to a harassment charge and attend anger management classes, but he turned the offer down.
However, more stalking charges were brought against him in June after Frankel gave the court copies of 160 text messages he had sent her. Hoppy’s lawyers attempted to get the charges dropped, but a judge denied the request in August.
The Skinnygirl founder and the executive went through a four-year divorce battle which was eventually finalized in July 2016.
The couple was married for six years but split after two. They share a seven-year-old daughter named Bryn, who Frankel was pregnant with when the couple wed.
Fans may remember the RHONY spin-off Bethenny Getting Married featuring Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy’s wedding.
At the time, it was the highest rated spin-off premiere for Bravo, resulting in the show Bethenny Ever After , which ran for two years and ended just before the couple split.
Hoppy claims that now his number one priority is his daughter and has called the charges brought against him by his wife “unjustified” and “false.”
Frankel claims that she decided to finally file charges after putting up with Hoppy’s abusive behavior almost every day for years.
Besides the legal battle with Hoppy, Frankel has another enemy to battle with: cancer. She recently had surgery for basal cell carcinoma and posted a picture on Instagram to show fans the scar on her face .
Frankel seemed to be in good spirits and added the caption, “You should see what the other guy looks like.”
Many of Bethenny Frankel's followers, including fellow housewife Tamra Judge, sent her messages of support and wished her well.
