The divorce battle continues between Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador and her estranged husband, David, and the former couple went to court this week for a hearing about spousal support and attorney fees. But, even though David had originally intended to challenge the March 16th temporary order awarding Shannon $10,500 a month in spousal support and $12,000 a month in child support, he agreed to continue the payments until they come to a permanent agreement in mediation.
Shannon and David appeared before Judge James Waltz in the Orange County Superior Court, and along with continuing to pay the $22,500 in spousal and child support for their three daughters Sophie, Stella, and Adeline, David will also pay $10,000 in attorney’s fees to Shannon’s lawyer, John Benedict Phillips.
During the hearing, Phillips said he had received a report from a forensic accountant who had gone over both David and Shannon’s finances, and both sides agreed to meet with a retired judicial officer and the accountant for mediation to hash out the final details.
According to Radar Online, if for some reason Shannon and David can’t reach an agreement, they will both appear before Judge Waltz again on October 15th.
This week’s hearing went a lot smoother than the last time the exes were in court. Back in March, David told the judge he was entitled to some of Shannon’s RHOC money because he appeared on the show. He also said that the $22,500 monthly payments would bankrupt his company.
In the financial documents that Shannon filed, she reported earnings last year of $423,205.80 and stated she works seasonally between 5 to 40 hours a week as a reality television personality.
After the most recent hearing, David said he was doing “fantastic,” and hopes that he and Shannon can reach an agreement in mediation, so they don’t have to return to court. He says he thinks that everything will “wash itself out,” and he wants what is best for his kids.
“Divorce is never fun, and it’s hardest on the kids, but they seem to be moving along. I look forward to when this is over. I think we both do,” said David.
The split hasn’t been easy on the couple’s three daughters, and a recent report claimed that they are refusing to accept David’s girlfriend of eight months, Lesley Cook, even though he is ready to propose. Sources say that the girls “don’t like her,” and “they want nothing to do with her.”
