'RHOC' Gina Kirschenheiter Already Dating Before The Ink On Her Divorce Is Dry
Real Housewives of Orange County newbie Gina Kirschenheiter recently went on her first date since filing for divorce from her longtime husband, Matthew, and she said that “it was fun.” But things didn’t end up working out with the new guy.
“I’m not really ready to date, and I don’t have any intentions of dating, but I did go on one date, and it was nice. And then he ended up getting back together with his girlfriend," she confessed to OK! Magazine while hysterically laughing.
Kirschenheiter added that the situation was funny, but it did leave her feeling validated. She explained that it was nice to know that if she does decide in the future that she wants to start dating, she can actually get a date.
But right now, Kirschenheiter is focusing on her three kids - Nicholas, 6, Sienna, 4, and Luca, 3 - and making sure they are doing well while she goes through her divorce battle. The reality star recently served her soon-to-be ex-husband with financial documents because she is requesting spousal support.
During the most recent RHOC episode, Kirschenheiter shared her struggle with keeping her family together during this difficult transition. She even asked co-star Kelly Dodd for some advice since she had just gotten through her divorce from her husband, Michael.
However, Dodd didn’t really have an answer for Kirschenheiter about how to handle the challenge. So, she has opted not to tell her children about the divorce, but she says that isn’t good. She says that she knows she has to tell them, but it is hard. Kirschenheiter says she wants to think everyone is doing as good as possible, and she doesn’t want her kids to say, “Mommy and Daddy are breaking up.”
Ultimately, Kirschenheiter says it is “really hard” to break the divorce news to her kids, and she is struggling with that.
While they go through the divorce, Gina and Matt have decided to stay in separate bedrooms in their Coto de Caza home. When she is home, Matt stays at his apartment in Los Angeles. And, when he is home with the kids, she stays in her casita.
Gina says that she is finding out that kids are resilient, and they go with the flow. For right now, they have decided to transition things in their own way, and she is buying time before she has to discuss things with her kids.
“Mommy has a room in the house, and Daddy has a bedroom, and that’s how they refer to things. ‘It’s Mommy’s bedroom. It’s Daddy’s bedroom.’ So, the kids don’t actually know anything that’s going on,” Gina said.
