R. Kelly has been the subject of several underage sex scandals over the years, but his manager, Demetrius Smith, says that he never witnessed any of the rumored acts. During an interview on The Domenick Nati Show, Smith opened up about working with Kelly and revealed how the singer would manipulate young girls into doing what he wanted.
Smith, who worked for Kelly from 1985 until 1995, says that Kelly was extremely private about his relationships, especially when it came to underage girls.
Kelly allegedly had sex with Aaliyah when she was only 15 years old. The two also reportedly tied the knot in a secret marriage that was later annulled by her parents.
Despite all the rumors, Smith claims that he never saw anything sexual happen between Kelly and Aaliyah.
“I never seen that,” Smith shared. “Robert was very private with Aaliyah. He was very protective of Aaliyah.”
Smith also said that Kelly always had younger girls around because it was easier to manipulate them than older women. Kelly apparently would keep the girls in separate rooms while he was working in the studio and forbade them to go out without him.
“The younger girls were the ones he could control. He’s a manipulator,” Smith stated.
The girls were not the only ones Kelly controlled. He also forced men, who wanted to get into the music industry, to wait on him all day. Smith hinted that Kelly may have had sex with the men, though he could not confirm his suspicions.
Smith did tell an interesting story that illustrates how Kelly operated.

In the early ’90s, Smith says that Kelly entered his hotel room completely naked and exposed his butt to him. Smith explained on The Domenick Nati show that he refused the offer and thought Kelly was only joking.
But looking back and considering all of the scandals, Smith now believes Kelly was serious. He also thinks if he would still be Kelly’s manager if he had gotten intimate with the singer.
R. Kelly has not responded to the latest underage sex rumors.
