This week starts with some terrible news. It was just reported by various important media outlets that The Prodigy vocalist Keith Flint passed away. He was 49 years old.
The Guardian reported that the singer was found dead in his Essex home today.
An Essex police spokesman confirmed that a 49-year-old man had died. ‘We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday,’ he said.
He continued and said ‘We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
Mirror.co.uk reported that Keith was found unconscious at his home.
The Prodigy embraced massive fame after the band emerged from the underground rave scene back in the early ’90s.
They managed to become one of the UK’s biggest bands.
Keith admitted a while ago that a decade of hard drinking and doing drugs, all of this combined with depression, had put the band in jeopardy, according to the same online publication.
‘I got heavily into booze and drugs and flooded myself with that, like a sponge. And then I reeled it in,’ he told WENN, says Mirror.
After that, he said that performing had become his new narcotic.
‘It’s like my drug. You’ve got to go out there firing. There’s nothing sadder than watching a heavyweight boxer, and he’s out of shape and getting bashed around.’
The news is still developing, so expect more details soon.
