The Duke of Cambridge, during a congratulatory speech at the palace, did not skimp on jokes about his grandmother.

A star party was held at Buckingham Palace, which brought together both representatives of the royal family and star guests. Prince William especially distinguished himself at the celebration, the main topic of the speech of the Duke of Cambridge was the theme of the success of the royal family in the work of preserving nature, but the assembled guests remembered it not for this.

According to People, at the beginning of his speech, Prince William compared Buckingham Palace to an IMAX screen, noting the really large number of those present.

The Duke of Cambridge, in his speech, also thanked his family members for their work spanning decades and, of course, hastened to express admiration and pride for his grandmother Elizabeth, but this was not without humor.

"Although no grandmother in the world thanks anyone for remembering her age, my own grandmother has been alive for almost a century," he said. At the end of his speech, Prince William noted that the relevance of protecting and restoring the planet remains, and he hopes and believes that together it will be possible to preserve nature for future generations. The Duke of Cambridge also jokingly emphasized that he has the same unbending optimism as Elizabeth II.

Recall that on the same day, Prince William, in the company of his wife Kate Middleton and their older children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, visited Wales in honor of the anniversary weekend. As he finished his speech, Kate, George and Charlotte waved their Union Jack flags enthusiastically, and the children joined in the applause.

Prince Charles joined his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, as he took to the stage to deliver his speech.
