While Middleton and William plan on following strict protocols when they announce the birth, they are infusing the announcement with a slightly modern twist.
Kensington Palace has increased its social media presence over the past few years. The palace posted on Twitter and Instagram when Middleton went into labor with Princess Charlotte in 2015. We should get a similar post when Middleton goes into labor this month, which is great for fans that check social media more often than the news feed.
Once the baby is born, Queen Elizabeth II will be the first one to know about it. After this, William and Middleton will have a few hours alone with their newborn. During this time, the couple will likely update close friends and family about the successful birth.
When the two are ready, Kensington Palace will send out an official press release to various media outlets. The palace will also release an official announcement on social media, which will include details about the birth, including the gender of the baby and health of the mother.
Apart from social media, Buckingham Palace will also release a birth announcement just outside of its gates for the public to see. The typed note will included the time of birth, gender, status of the mother, and signatures of the delivering doctors. Those lucky enough will able to see the announcement on an easel just outside of the palace.
Middleton and William will withhold other details about their newborn until a later date. The couple will pose for pictures outside of the Lindo Wing whenever Middleton feels well enough to go home.
Middleton stayed in the hospital for one day after giving birth to Prince George and left the same day when she had Princess Charlotte. The photo op at St. Mary’s will be the first time the world gets to see the newest addition to the royal family.
As far as the name is concerned, Middleton and William will announce it at a later date. The couple waiting a few days before announcing Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s names and will likely do the same with their third. While most bettors in the U.K. believe the baby will be a girl, William and Middleton are reportedly waiting until after the birth to discover the gender.
Kensington Palace previously confirmed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will welcome their third baby in April, though an exact due date has not been announced.
