Lots of children wait all year long for the chance to open presents in December, yet Prince George and Princess Charlotte will share a different experience this Christmas. Although most parents buy their kids a slew of presents every year, Prince William and Kate Middleton are very selective about what they put under the Christmas tree.
According to Daily Star, William and his wife avoid purchasing a lot of Christmas presents for their kids because they are afraid of spoiling them. While George and Charlotte will probably get the police car and dollhouse they requested earlier this year, that will be about it.
In fact, an inside source revealed that the royal parents give away the majority of presents that are sent to George and Charlotte. They typically donate them to various charities around London and only keep a select few for the kiddos. George and Charlotte also don’t have to wait until Christmas day to open the presents, as the family traditionally opens gifts on Christmas Eve.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photograph of their family. The image features on Their Royal Highnesses' Christmas card this year. The photograph shows The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their two children at Kensington Palace. It was taken earlier this year by @chrisjacksongetty Their Royal Highnesses have also announced this morning that Princess Charlotte will attend the Willcocks Nursery School in London from January 2018. The Willcocks Nursery School has said: "We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte. We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January."
Us Magazine reports that George and Charlotte have a very close relationship with their mom and dad. An inside source told the outlet that George has a strong bond with William while Charlotte has taken a fondness for her mother.
With Charlotte home more often than her brother, she often helps Middleton out in the kitchen and shadows her mom wherever she goes. When it comes to their relationship with each other, the insider revealed that Charlotte and George love playing with each other, even when it gets a little rough.
“He’s very protective of her, but they still like a bit of rough and tumble,” the inside claims. “She’s not afraid of a grazed knee, and it’s most certainly not going to stop her from running around corridors like a girl possessed.”
George and Charlotte will be spending the holidays with the entire royal family, including Prince Harry and his future wife, Meghan Markle. Queen Elizabeth II, of course, will also be attendance when everyone opens up presents at her royal estate this weekend.
Although Prince William and Kate Middleton are protective about how many presents their children receive, Christmas is one of their favorite traditions because the holiday brings the entire family together. With Harry getting ready to tie the knot in a few months and William and Middleton expecting a third baby next year, this Christmas should be one to remember.
Although George and Charlotte won’t be spoiled this Christmas, the four-year-old recently picked up a habit that might get his name on Santa’s naughty list. According to Honey Nine, George likes to open presents before Christmas Eve, just like his grandmother, Princess Diana.
Even as a young woman, Princess Diana was known for opening Christmas presents weeks in advance because she simply couldn’t wait to see what people had bought her. George may not have a lot of presents to open this year, but he’ll probably open a few before the family wakes up this Sunday. It isn’t clear if Charlotte shares the same trait, but we’ll learn if she does soon enough.
