According to new reports, not only is Prince Philip going to stay in the hospital for longer than expected after not feeling well, he's actually undergone heart surgery! That's right, only 3 months before his 100th birthday, Queen Elizabeth II's life partner is recovering from a 'successful' heart procedure!

Prince Philip has been closely monitored by medical specialists since he first showed up at the King Edward VII Hospital on February 16 which is why they were able to quickly find what was wrong with him health-wise.

At the time, he reportedly just expressed not feeling very well but his health has been declining for a while now so keeping him under close observation by doctors was recommended, even though it was considered just a 'precautionary measure.'

The palace shared at the time that 'The Duke’s admission's a precautionary measure, at the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell. The Duke's expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and rest.'

Since he was previously transferred to St. Bartholomew’s which is a specialized cardiac care hospital, fans of the royal family already suspected there was something going on with the very important organ.

Now, sure enough, the palace has released a statement that confirms: 'The Duke of Edinburgh underwent a successful procedure for a pre existing heart condition yesterday at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. His Royal Highness will stay in the hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days.'

This also further confirms that his health problems were definitely not caused by COVID-19.

After all, both Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth have been vaccinated!

In the meantime, it looks like his son, Prince Charles, visited his father in the hospital on February 20.

The heir to the throne was seen arriving and entering through a back door while accompanied by security.
