According to reports, Prince Charles may be jealous of Prince William and Kate Middleton because of their fame and media attention. If the rumors are correct, Prince William might’ve talked with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Second, to help mediate the tension between Charles and Michael and Carole Middleton.
In Tom Bower’s new unauthorized biography of the Prince Of Wales, the investigative reporter makes such claims. In his book, he claimed that Prince Charles felt overpowered and outperformed by the Middletons as well as isolated from the rest of the family including the young children, George, and Charlotte.
When Kate Middleton chose to have Christmas with her family instead of Charles and Elizabeth, it sparked a bit of intrafamilial jealousy.
Moreover, Kate’s intention to set up shop in Norfolk instead of near Highgrove made Charles feel outside of the circle. When the Queen’s courtiers caught wind of Charles resentment, they supposedly ignored Carole Middleton not to make Charles any angrier.
Bower states that Williams was “infuriated” by the drama and spoke with his grandmother to hopefully reconcile the situation. Bower also reports the connection between Charles and his sons became strained during his divorce from Princess Diana.
Charles supposedly believed that Diana had tarnished his reputation in their children’s eyes. As it was previously reported, following her death over twenty years ago in 1997, the continuous revelations in public caused rifts between the family.
Because of all the drama and tension, the brothers would often enter the Clarence House through the servant’s area to avoid their father and Camilla.
The prince has reached out to other royal family members too to hopefully put himself in a higher standing. Charles tried to develop a deeper connection with Kate when he invited her out to her first opera. However, the night didn’t go well because the opera was terrible that evening.
Robert Higdon, who worked as the chief executive of Charles’ charity foundation said to Bower that the media attention directed toward Kate and Willliam made Charles feel as if he was an outsider.
Furthermore, Charles felt embittered when the Canadian government extended their invitation to Kate and William instead of him. To make matter worse, Meghan and Harry’s upcoming wedding is again the focus of the public’s attention, rather than Charles.
