Nearly half-a-year after the child star, Jon Paul Steuer, passed away, fans of the actor and musician are learning the precise reason for his death. According to reports, the 33-year-old actor died due to a suicide.
An official for the Portland Police confirmed the news in a report from The Blast. The publication claims Jon shot himself with a shotgun.
When the media reported on his death back in January of this year, they didn’t reveal exactly why he had died. But many of his fans and followers had speculated that it was due to a suicide. Rumors in the Portland scene circulated for months regarding how he died, but no one knew exactly why.
At the time of his death, his band, PROBLEMS, issued a statement which read that it was with “heavy hearts” that they had to announce the passing of their friend and bandmate.
PROBLEMS explained that the addition of Jon Paul Steuer to their band was a welcome one and one of the best choices they ever made collectively, even though he wasn’t in the group for a very long time.
Ironically, they explained Jon as “fun” and “lighthearted,” and he often brought that energy to their shows. Despite him only being the singer of the band for a year, they had a lifetime of great experiences together.
As you may know, before Steuer embarked on a music career, he first appeared in the first Star Trek movie, Star Trek: The Next Generation, when he was six-years-old. However, he stopped acting at 12-years-old for a number of reasons.
And while he had a relatively successful career as an artist, he also owned and operated a vegan restaurant called, Harvest At The Bindery, in Portland, Oregon.
After he died, the restaurant closed altogether. We send out our thoughts and prayers to Jon and his family during this challenging time.
