Peter Sarsgaard is getting ready to join the cast and crew of the upcoming installment of the Batman franchise, starring Robert Pattinson among others. Matt Reeves revealed the casting on Twitter this past Friday, but he didn’t reveal what character the actor would play.
Previously, Reeves, however, did reveal the names of some of the other cast members as well as their respective characters, including Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Zoe Kravitz as Cat Woman, as well as Paul Dano as The Riddler.
The movie is slated for release in 2021 with the aforementioned Robert Pattinson starring as The Batman. The most recent characterization of Batman was from Ben Affleck in the 2017 movie, Justice League.
While no one is entirely sure who Peter Sarsgaard will portray in the movie, some people think he’ll star as Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, claims a report from Vulture. Fans of the series have been pointing to the recent IG photo of Sarsgaard on Maggie Gyllenhaal’s IG account.

However, other reports, including from The Hollywood Reporter, suggested the actor may be starring as a corrupt Gotham police officer. Additionally, other outlets claim he might be starring as Peter Foley, who was played by Matthew Modine in The Dark Knight Rises.
Earlier this year, Jennifer Lopez and Robert Pattinson sat down for a conversation, when Pattinson told the singer-songwriter that she could star as Batman if she wanted to. Lopez jokingly said she could do it.
During the same interview, Robert also addressed the idea of method acting. The actor joked that whenever someone was engaging in method acting, they were always doing it in preparation for a character who was an “a**hole” to other people.
Regardless, The Batman is another heavily anticipated film from the film’s titular star, Pattinson, who has, in recent years, garnered critical acclaim for his performances in other films, including the Safdie brothers’ Good Time, from 2017. Pattinson first became an international star, however, in the Twilight franchise.
