This is the very first time that Pete Davidson has opened up about his and Ariana Grande’s breakup and it seems like he is even able to joke about it. After all, he’s a comedian; they’re usually able to make anything into a funny tale – it’s how they cope too!
As you may know, Pete and Ariana broke their four months engagement last week.
Last night, the SNL star made his very first appearance on stage since it was confirmed they had split, co-hosting the Judd and Pete for America, benefiting Swing Left with Judd Apatow.
He told the crowd: ‘Well, as you could tell, I don’t want to be here. There’s a lot going on. Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?’
This is a reference to the headlines claiming he was homeless after leaving the $16 million New York apartment Ariana had gotten for the two of them.
Last week, an insider shared with E! News that Pete is ‘doing fine’ and ‘staying with family. He has a really strong support system of family and friends around that are keeping him laughing.’
Davidson also joked about the Ariana-inspired tattoo on his neck that he has already covered with a heart.
‘Um, I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun. I’m f**king 0 for 2 in the tattoo [department]. Yeah, I am afraid to get my mom tattooed on me, that is how bad it is.’
Sure enough, Pete needed to cover up the face of another ex that he had on his forearm when he got with Ariana.
‘So, obviously you know I, we [Ariana and I] broke up or whatever, but when me and her first got engaged we got tattoos. And it was in a magazine like, ‘Was Pete Davidson stupid?’ And 93% said yes. So my boy was like, ‘Don’t listen to that s**t man. They are literally f**king haters.’ And I’m like, yeah, f**k that. I am not stupid. The other day he was like, ‘Yo. Turns out you were stupid,’’ Pete went on during his bit.
His co-host, Apatow, praised Pete for still honoring his commitment and coming to the show only three days after the breakup news broke out.
‘Well, you put me on the flyer, I had to. F**k my feelings,’ Pete joked.
‘I care more about America than your feelings, I do. I care more about America than Pete’s feelings,’ Apatow played along.
‘I feel like I am America. I am a good guy who just keeps getting kicked in the dick. You are like, ‘Ah, that f**king poor kid. Hope he does not kill himself.’ That’s America,’ Pete darkly added. Yikes!
