Pauley Perrette is fearful for her life following the incident whereby a homeless man attacked her on the street. In a report from Fox 11 Los Angeles, a man named David Merck left a psychiatric institution after he struck the NCIS star repeatedly in November of 2015.
Today, Pauley is worried about Merck because not only may he come after her again, but another woman could be victimized.
Pauley said to Fox 11 that it “changed (her) life forever” and she no longer walks outside of her house. According to Perrette, it’s entirely possible the next thing she’ll hear about him is that he killed a woman.
Pauley opted out on speaking on camera because she wants to protect her privacy. In 2015, Pauley took to social media to reveal her frightening encounter with the man in the neighborhood in which she lives in Hollywood, California.
She said to her Twitter followers at the time that she “walked across (her) street to a new guest house” and was attacked by a “very psychotic homeless man.”
David grabbed Perrette’s arm forcefully and began punching her face and forehead repeatedly while threatening the actress with murder. Following the incident, the court charged him with felony criminal threats and imprisonment by violence for attacking the small-screen star.
When in court, the man pled not guilty because he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. The judge ordered David to go to Patton State Hospital for treatment.
In 2016, Pauley wrote a piece in Motto where she forgave him for the incident. She said, “my heart broke for him” because “his soul and humanity were gone.”
Perrette claimed it was a “failure of our society” to take care of someone who apparently needed help. She had no choice but to forgive him because he was in such a tumultuous state. “He needs help.”
