New details are emerging about Season 2 of Ozark. Along with a new teaser trailer and promo materials, Jason Bateman recently sat down and talked about the challenges his character will face when Ozark returns to Netflix this summer. What can fans expect to unfold with the Byrde family this season?
Bateman, who plays Marty Byrde, explained how the sophomore season will explore more of his character’s family dynamics and his relationship with Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner). The actor revealed that Marty and Ruth will grow closer this season, but only because they have mutual interests in keeping each other alive.
Their partnership, however, will face a major hurdle when Ruth’s father returns from jail, though Bateman did not spoil any details on how that situation plays out.

Bateman also let slip that Marty’s wife, Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), will be going to a funeral this season. He, unfortunately, did not say which character will die or when the funeral will take place.
Apart from all the family drama, Bateman assured fans that Marty is still laundering money and his business life will only get increasingly worse as the season goes on.
“There is the escalation – there was $8 million this season the Byrdes had to figure out how to work with – and Marty’s got $50 million now that he’s gotta wash,” Bateman shared in the interview.
In addition to Bateman’s interview, Netflix just released a new trailer for the upcoming season of Ozark. The clip features several scenes from the second season, including Marty and Wendy talking about the things they’ve done and consequences they now face. The trailer is chalked full of alarming sequences and gloomy moments and wraps with a mysterious gunshot.
Season 2 will focus on Marty and Wendy as they continue to work out the details of their money laundering scheme while balancing family life. But the couple will find themselves in a dangerous situation as they navigate their various business partnerships with the cartel, the Snell’s and Ruth. Just when they think the worst is past, Marty and Wendy will realize that they must go all out before things get better.
Returning cast members include Bateman, Linney, Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Peter Mullan, and Jordana Spiro. Fans will also be treated to a few new faces this season, including Janet McTeer.
Season 2 of Ozark is schedule to premiere on Netflix on Aug. 31.
