Sam Heughan has been hitting the gym hard lately. The Outlander star is currently gearing up for his new movie, Bloodshot, and just treated fans with a video of one of his more intense workouts on social media. How does Heughan keep his body in incredible shape?
Heughan shared a video on Instagram that featured a few of his favorite workouts, including a rope pull and a sled push. The Outlander star is clearly in incredible shape and isn’t afraid to show it off. “Work has begun on Bloodshot prep,” Heughan wrote alongside the clip. Heughan will star alongside Eiza Gonzalez and Vin Diesel in the flick, whom he also tagged in the post.
Bloodshot is an adaptation of the comics of the same name. The story centers around a man who dies but it brought back after being subjected to nanotechnology. In addition to giving him life, the procedure turned the man into an amplified fighter.
In addition to the video, Heughan recently shared photos of his latest marathon run. The actor shared pics of his run at the Cahonas Scotland marathon, where he placed 414th out of over 35,000. While Heughan’s diet also plays a big part in his fitness, he obviously keeps in incredible shape by being super active throughout the year.
While Heughan is getting his body prepared for his upcoming movie, he has been busy filming Season 4 of Outlander for past few months. The series is set to return to Starz this November and many fans are hoping that Heughan will finally get the praise he deserves by landing an Emmy this year.
In particular, fans and critics believe Heughan deserves a prize for his emotional scenes with Caitriona Balfe in Season 3. Last season, Claire (Balfe) showed Jamie (Heughan) photos of their daughter, whom she raised in the future. Heughan brought a lot of emotional depth in those scenes with Claire, but he’s got an uphill climb if he wants to take home an award this year.
The Emmys are notorious for skipping out on attractive male leads. For example, it took Jon Hamm eight years before he won an Emmy for Mad Men and Kit Harington labored for six years to get nominated for Game of Thrones. We can only hope that things have changed and Heughan lands the nomination he deserves this year.
Season 4 of Outlander is scheduled to premiere on Starz this November.
