Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are building new lives for themselves as Outlander heads to America in Season 4. The couple was left shipwrecked at the end of Season 3 and will be establishing a new home in North Carolina this season.
With the premiere only months away, Heughan recently teased that Season 4 will feature one of the biggest story arcs yet for the time traveling couple.
In America, Jamie and Claire will be starting over after leaving Scotland last season. Although the two have been through a lot in the past three years, Heughan revealed that Jamie and Claire will finally realize their dreams in America and become the family they’ve always desired.
The Outlander star explained how arriving in America has given Jamie and Claire a fresh opportunity to start a family. That doesn’t however, mean that their journey will be without its challenges.
According to Express, Heughan revealed that American is dangerous for Jamie and Claire, who will encounter plenty of obstacles over the next few seasons. While Claire and Jamie work through the challenges, their new journey will play out in what Heughan calls “a big arc – a big, long story.”
Heughan did not go into too many details about what’s ahead, but it sounds like the series will be sticking to the same storyline for a couple of seasons.
The biggest storyline, of course, is Jamie’s upcoming reunion with his daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton). Brianna is set to travel back in time this season with her boyfriend, Roger (Richard Rankin), and reunite with Jamie and Claire.
At the same time, she will come face-to-face with the show’s newest villain, Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers), who wreaks havoc on her journey.
Season 4 of Outlander is scheduled to premiere Nov. 4 on Starz.
