Sam Heughan's love life has been under scrutiny ever since he joined the cast of Outlander . The actor, who plays Scottish hunk Jamie Fraser on the show, was dating Mackenzie Mauzy for the longest time — but the two reportedly split earlier this year. Has Heughan already moved on to someone new?

The Outlander star rarely discusses his romantic life in public, so it is difficult to determine who he is dating at the moment.

New rumors have him dating his long-time friend Amy Shiels, though they have yet to confirm their romance. Shiels is well known for her part as Candie in the hit series, Twin Peaks . She also appeared in Final Fantasy XV and The Detour .

According to Bustle , rumors of Heughan's romance with Shiels started way back in 2014. At the time, a fan wrote on Twitter that the pair would make a great couple, and Shiels liked the comment.

The two have not said anything about their rumored relationship, so we cannot say for sure if they are dating. She has even denied it in the past. They have been good friends, however, for over a decade, so it possible that they are romantically involved.

Heughan started dating Mauzy last year. The pair kept their romance a secret and, aside from a rare Instagram post, they were hardly ever seen in public. They did make one red carpet appearance together, but the trail went cold after that.

Insiders claim that Mauzy and Heughan have parted ways, though neither of them have confirmed the split.

Heughan recently took part in a dating auction on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , which many fans took as evidence of the breakup.

We can only hope that Heughan and Shiels confirm their romance soon. Until then, fans can watch Sam Heughan on Outlander every Sunday night on Starz.
