Season 4 of Outlander is starting a new chapter as Brianna (Sophie Skelton) travels back in time to reunite with her parents, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) Fraser. With Brianna navigating the tricky waters of the 18th century, she will eventually cross paths with the show’s main villain Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers). If the show sticks by the books, then the meeting will not go over well for Brianna.
In fact, Bonnet will do some unspeakable things by the end of the season, though Speelers hinted that his character’s ending might come as a surprise to fans.
In an interview with Express, the actor opened up about playing Bonnet in Season 4 and discussed the possibility of returning next year.
Speelers admitted that he has had a blast playing the villain on Outlander and would be back in a heartbeat if producers extended an invitation. That, of course, depends if Bonnet survives Season 4, which sounds like is a possibility.
“Yes! I mean I would love… I’d like to come back,” Speelers shared. “I haven’t heard anything yet, I mean with any of these big series there’s always the possibility of him coming back.”
When it comes to Bonnet’s questionable behavior, Speelers believes there is a chance his character can change. But given his nature, the actor does not think Bonnet could ever become a different man – at least not at his core.
Either way, it is exciting to know that Bonnet might live past Season 4. If that happens, then there is no telling where this season will leave off and how Bonnet’s ending might affect Jamie and Claire moving forward.
Brianna finally traveled back in time at the end of last week’s installment, titled “Down the Rabbit Hole,” which also featured a surprise cameo from Tobias Menzies (Frank Randall). She is expected to continue to become a larger part of the story from here on out.
Fans can watch Brianna and Bonnet clash when new episodes of Outlander air Sunday nights on Starz.
