Oprah Winfrey Leaves Tiny Door Open For Potential Run For President Against Donald Trump In 2020
Could it be that Oprah Winfrey is weighing all the pros and cons before deciding to run for the presidency of the United States of America?
Political junkies have been on a rollercoaster ride with Oprah who is being drafted by many voters and famous figures from the left to go against Donald Trump in 2020.
One week, Oprah shuts all doors to the possibility of her taking on Mr. Trump and another one, she gives her supporters and potential donors a glimmer of hope.
Talking to People , the media mogul was asked about a run for the highest in the land.
She said: “About this presidential thing. I thought, ‘Well gee, I have never in my life ever imagined that I would be in politics.’ And I have always said, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no.’ ”
Asked if she ever considered tossing her hat in the ring, she revealed: “Am I supposed to at least look at that question?”
Meanwhile, the media mogul managed to once more annoy the president with the latest episode of the CBS news show, 60 Minutes .
Hours after the episode aired, the president posted a mocking message on Twitter where he stated that Oprah was very insecure during her latest 60 Minutes segment in Michigan.
Trump also stated the story was not done correctly and expressed his hope she would run for the leading position so he could defeat her during the election.
What Oprah did to receive such a reaction was to gather two groups of 7 people each. The first group consisted of Trump supporters, while the second was composed citizens who did not vote for him.
The goal was to interview each group and have a debate on the state of the union.
The nature of the questions that Oprah asked significantly varied but the president claimed they were biased.
At one point, Oprah asked her guests if they thought the respect for their country was diminishing with time and if they were bothered by the way people perceive the United States at all.
Oprah then carried on by asking the voters what they thought of Trump's fitness and overall stability for being the president given his age, behavior, and weight.
Both parties could make their points, and everyone was given the opportunity to express his/her opinion.
The actress has been urged to make a bid in the next presidential election -- she delivered a very powerful speech for the "MeToo" movement last month after receiving the Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
