Olivia Munn spoke out against Brett Ratner because the actress doesn’t want other women to experience what she faced. The 37-year-old entertainer, when speaking with The Hollywood reporter, took some time to chat with the journalists about the accusations and how it’s affected her.
When the reporter asked how much courage it took to accuse Ratner of his transgressions, Munn said it was difficult. According to the 37-year-old, it was something that she’s “privately dealt with for a long time,” and even dealt with publicly back in 2011.
In 2011, Ratner lied about Munn and told everyone that he “banged her,” but eventually he apologized and said he lied. She claimed, “the exhaustion back in 2011 of just trying to get name clear again and all that stuff.”
Olivia explained that she didn’t want to get him “dethroned” or fired, but wanted him to apologize for what he did and clear her reputation. However, when Munn looks back on it today, it’s apparent that it could’ve been handled more seriously.
Munn said she didn’t care about justice, “I just wanted to clear my name,” and she added that women deserve more than that. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times last month, Munn came out with the accusations in full.
Olivia said that he “masturbated in front of her.” Munn alleged that as a response, Ratner threatened her with legal retribution.
At one point, she seriously considered the ramifications of the claims against the director on her career. However, after the outpouring of complaints against predatory men in Hollywood, it appeared as though it was time to speak up. As you may know, a model accused Ratner and Russell Simmons of assault as well. Since then, Ratner lost his job, and Simmons stepped down from all of his companies.
