Bachelor producers have finally decided who is season 22’s new leading man! Arie Luyendyk Jr. is the new star, and he opened up about the honor, saying he still cannot believe it but that he is excited nevertheless.

Fans had a definite favorite in Peter Kraus, but the execs were pretty skeptical after he failed to propose to Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay.

Other names in the running for the Bachelor title were Wells Adams and Eric Bigger, both of whom did not meet the production team’s standards.

‘I sometimes think when you are on The Bachelorette, and you jump right into being the Bachelor, for me, it would have been too soon. This feels more natural. I am not concerned what people think. I am just focused on the outcome. I want to find my person and will do whatever it takes!’ the new star of the hit reality TV show explained about what he feels going into it after two years of being out of the spotlight.

Following their decision to eliminate Peter from the list of potential Bachelors, the producers reportedly panicked until finally picking Luyendyk Jr.

However, even after they chose him, they were still pretty worried about it, mainly because he hadn’t been on TV in the last two years.

Meanwhile, Arie claimed he is joining the show with an open heart and with hope that he will find 'the one' for him by the end of the season.

Meanwhile, it looks like he has found a real supporter in former Bachelorette Emily Maynard who totally agrees with the producers’ choice.

According to her, not only is the man very handsome but has a ‘heart of gold’ and is also a great kisser!

What more could the female contestants wish for?
