Nene Leakes Is Called Out For This Photo Op With Husband Gregg Leakes -- Fans Say She Is Competing With Other 'Real Housewives Of Atlanta' Ladies
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes, who caught flack for coming out to protect black businesses during the recent protests, has done a full 180.
In a surprising move, Nene teamed up with her husband, Gregg Leakes, and other family members to march in Atlanta with many people demanding changes after the death of George Floyd in the hands of a white police officer on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The couple shared several photos where they are holding homemade signs while standing with citizens and activists supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
Nene used the caption to explain her decision to join the fight: "My hubby and I were both afraid to compromise our immune system considering his past cancer and the blood clots I had in my lungs! However, Gregg really felt he wanted to get out and try for a few and let everyone know that no matter what, we stand loud and proud! Black Lives Matter, and it has ALWAYS mattered. Thank you to everyone out here in the hot sun protesting daily! We love you and support you."
She was slammed for the photo op, and for the fact that Gregg was not wearing a mask.
One critic stated: "Why didn't she say that before she posted about looters and being worried about her store?! She called out people for doing photo ops, but here she is doing the same thing.🤦🏽♀️"
Another commenter bashed her by saying: "She's taking pictures after she just called out other celebrities for taking photo ops? I'm confused. She literally mentioned the store as a point of reference to tell people where she was. And responded to a comment in her feed stating that... I just think everyone is on high alert. At the EOD, she out there. Everything wrong be perfect for everyone... let's keep focus and the main thing the main thing. #blacklivesmatter"
A third person revealed: "I feel like there's some sort of competition she's brewing of how much she has done for BLM vs. her castmates, and it's seriously irrelevant and irritating."
This critic claimed: "Can y'all stay focused & leave this woman alone... Damn... This is getting ridiculous at this point... Because she's not the only one protesting... But there are a lot of people being critical of her, but your life is in shambles or worse... SMDH."
Should the couple get any credit for doing this?
