Who would have known that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) actually has a personal life outside of work. The latest episode of NCIS introduced us to a few of Gibbs’ friends during a retreat at his cabin. But will we meet more of his buddies as the season progresses?
It has been a long time since Gibbs had a break from the action, but his trip to the cabin for a week of rest did not go as planned. Two of Gibbs’ longtime friends showed up to crash his short vacation. Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) appeared because exterminators were bug bombing his home, and Phil Brooks (Don Lake) arrived for some post-divorce company.

But, instead of enjoying some time with old friends, their constant bickering pushed Gibbs to the breaking point.
Luckily, a new case offered a perfect distraction. While Gibbs was at the cabin, his team was tracking down a robber who stole $350,000 out of an armored truck. The criminal fled the scene on a navy transport plane and parachuted out somewhere close to the cabin.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Gibbs and his two friends immediately left the cabin in search of the criminal as soon as they got wind of the case. The trio eventually found the parachute and stolen money, though not without Fornell suffering a serious fall.
We do not know if the series will introduce more of Gibbs’ friends as the season moves forward, but it was great seeing how he interacts with people outside of work. Even though things did not go smoothly for Gibbs and his buddies, they worked out their differences in the end and realized that they really only have each other.
Here’s to hoping that we will see more of Gibbs’ personal life in the near future.
New episodes of NCIS air Tuesday nights on CBS.
