After 16 seasons, fans of NCIS are still discovering fascinating things about lead character Leroy Jethro Gibbs played by Mark Harmon.
The Pauley Perrette-free season seems to be inviting viewers in Gibbs’ world and in episode 4, many discovered a little secret about the former U.S Marine Corps Scout Sniper turned special agent — he has more best friends than previously imagined.
Poor Gibbs, after being acting director for a few months, he took a couple off days off for a mini vacation in his cabin to enjoy nature and some peace and quiet.
The little retreat was crashed by Gibbs’ friends, Navy Captain Phillip Brooks (played by Don Lake) and Tobias Fornell (portrayed by Joe Spano).
The installment was special because it was the first time Joe and Don had a scene together. The pair delivered by making fans roll on the floor with laughter as they fought over who is Gibbs’ real BFF.
The tension between the two best pals pushed Gibbs to leave his retreat to investigate a robbery in the area.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the two men followed him, and they eventually solved the case.

Judging by the sweet reactions on social media, fans loved the quarreling trio despite feeling sorry for Gibbs.
A fan laughed and said Gibbs was “cheating on Fornell!” and added this is the best bromance on TV and they need more of it.
This person reacted to the episode by saying: “Lord, just let Gibbs have a break! I swear I think if Gibbs got married again, Fornell and probably Phil too, would show up and interrupt the honeymoon!”

Another commenter noted: “Great episode getting Gibbs out of the office with his buds (even if he didn’t want them around)! Loved the end.”
This fan shared: “Gibbs to bad you couldn’t enjoy your vacation by yourself, But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Interesting that they are both balding and have goatees. Is there a message there?”
The episode concluded with Gibbs enjoying a meal with his two best buddies at his cabin around a fire and a good drink.
