NBC is paying Megyn Kelly about $23 million a year because of her new contract with the network, but they don’t seem to want her hosting anything besides the third hour of The Today Show – known as Megyn Kelly Today.
They recently opted to bring back Katie Couric to host the upcoming Olympics in South Korea, instead of using Kelly, and now a new report claims that the network has banned Kelly from their coverage of the upcoming royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Is Kelly’s acid tongue causing her to commit career suicide?
The 47-year-old was pushing to be a part of the network’s wedding coverage in May (NBC is reportedly going “all out” for the event), but an insider reveals that NBC News President Noah Oppenheim “personally vetoed the request.”

The network’s coverage will include an entire team of correspondents with insider knowledge about the couple and what’s going on behind the scenes.
“The last thing that anyone wants is Megyn to be there and say something completely inappropriate on the air which would create its own controversy,” says the source.
Apparently, Kelly’s bosses do not want to take the chance that she will say something that would manage to upstage the event.
The TV show host has been with NBC since last summer, and she has already managed to make some enemies at her new network. The ratings for her show are suffering, and her feud with Jane Fonda appears to be making matters worse.
Back in September, Fonda appeared on Megyn Kelly Today, and when Kelly asked her about her plastic surgery, Fonda refused to answer.
Then, just last week, the iconic Hollywood actress brought up the incident again in another interview and called Kelly a poor interviewer.
This prompted Kelly to give a four-minute monologue on her show in which she slammed Fonda for everything from her 1970s political activism and the Hanoi Jane incident to passing on the opportunity to empower other women by talking about her plastic surgery.

The insider says that what Kelly is doing is killing her show and career, and she is welcome to do that, but executives are not going to allow her to take The Today Show with her.
In addition to being left out of the royal wedding coverage, she will also not be part of the network’s upcoming Olympic coverage, and she reportedly “threw an Olympic fit” when she found out that NBC had brought Couric to co-host the opening ceremonies.
It is unclear what Kelly’s role will be during the Olympics. Besides Kathie Lee Gifford, she is the only Today Show host staying behind.
NBC is reportedly planning to shake things up in the morning lineup during the two-week event, and it will be interesting to see if Megyn Kelly will be on the air at all, and if she is, what news she will cover.
