Singer Monica is a very close friend of Kobe Bryant and his entire family, which is why the shocking news of his passing devastated her.
Kobe and his teen daughter, Gianna, and several other people were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas on Sunday morning.
The legendary basketball star is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters — Natalia, Bianka, and their newborn, Capri.
Monica, who shared personal videos of Kobe with her sons, explained he was a brother to her and a mentor to her children.
She paid tribute to Gianna and reached out to Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Laine Bryant.
