The former contestant on The Voice – Melanie Martinez – denied the allegation that she raped her old friend, Timothy Heller. The 22-year-old said in a statement on her Twitter account that she is “horrified and saddened” by the accusations.
Melanie claimed she and Timothy were close friends for an extended period and tried to help each other as artists. She explained that they both had “pain in dealing with our individual demons.”
She continued, “she never said no to what we chose to do together” and although they parted ways Melanie continues to “send her love and light.”

In a note shared on the 4th of December, Monday, Timothy Heller – who, despite her male-name, is a woman – claimed Martinez raped her.
The singer wrote that she has “kept it secret” for years and convinced herself it wasn’t a big deal. She added “the thought of accepting” that her friend raped her is impossible, but it’s the truth.
According to Heller, Martinez had “power” over her and abused the position so she could sexually abuse her. Timothy added, “her power and control over me grew and grew.”
When I wrote this story about my assault, I initially wasn’t going to make the abuser. But I think it’s important for you all to know this is about Melanie Martinez pic.twitter.com/4PQ5oNI2s9

Furthermore, Heller states that Martinez made her “apologize” for experiencing a panic attack one night because it “ruined” Martinez’s evening.
As you may know, this is just one of many allegations to come as a part of the tide which has flooded the entertainment industry in recent months. However, this may be one of the first charges of rape between two gay women rather than between men and women, or men and other gay men.
